Default RE: RC Tank Scale Speed Calculator

Thanks for the offer! Since it's available elsewhere, I don't think it would be kosher for me to host the document at my site: Heck, I don't want to step on anyone's toes! If you post the URL to it, I'd be glad to add ithat to my page.

I don't know if you checked it out, but my calculator is a simple empirical conversion gadget: No RPM, gear ratio, sprocket diameter, or battery output voltage measurements are used. Draw 2 chalk lines on the sidewalk, time your tank, and plug the distance and time into the calculator. It spits out the calculated 1:1 scaled mph/kph. Here's an example, using Mitosal's YouTube video:

Using that video's distance and time measurements (3 metres = 9.84251969 feet) plugged into the calculator tells you:

Test #1: Jagdpanther with stock Tamiya transmission
3.2 seconds
scale speed: 34 mph (56 kph)

Test #2: Impact TU3 with drop down gear
8 seconds
scale speed: 14 mph (23 kph)

Test #3: Impact TU3 with drop down gear and hop up gear set 2
5.1 seconds
scale speed: 21 mph (35 kph)

Not that this tells you anything useful in the real world. You won't get a ticket for driving 34 mph scale speed in a School zone!
