Default Os Fs40

Marcel,

Proper cleaning would require a full disassembly of the engine. You'd scrub off any cooked-on or solidified resifdue with a very soapy solution of dish soap and water, and use 4-zero steel wool (also called "four-ought" or "0000"). Rinse under water as hot as you can stand with the bare hands, shake off and allow to air dry. Rinsing with alcohol will remove the water faster. Oil parts immediately, especially the steel parts. Make sure you don't get bits of steel wool in the bearings.

Reassemble your clean engine.

The O.S. Max FS-40 engine has been out of production long enough that we don't have an instruction sheet in electronic format. Please send an email to:

To request the price of a photocopied instruction sheet.

The air-bleed carb is fine. The engine runs very well with it.

Parts specific to the engine are no longer available. The engine has been out of production since 1984 or so.
