I did modify my landing gear to allow some springiness. I cut what was the two axel ends in the middle of the landing gear assembly and used a brass tube and solder to join them together in the middle, making a spreader bar. Then I made an axle from another piece of piano wire. This is bungyed to the landing gear, similar to the real airplane. I also made a small axel wing, which is shown in the photo. The modification was really easy to do and I should think is doable to an existing, finished airplane.
