No, It's not backplate porting.

The problem, as Jody so well indicated in his post before yours, is that it requires thought, time, materials, and a little skilled effort to perform. Done wrong and an engine has the possibility of not running at all, or running well for a little bit then not running after an improperly installed correction detached from its installed position. Ideally, you would not want just anybody making the attempt to manufacture and install a home brewed fix since so many are a little bit hazy about mechanical endeavors. We now live and play in a buy and fly hobby atmosphere and so very many that are involved are very limited in mechanical ability, and/or patience. For them to make attempts and then fail would only perpetuate the original issue and likely generate new ones, ones where they would wrongly want to hold the manufacturer responsible.
