I hate to hijack this highly informative thread, but I was weeding out the ole photo album and ran across an old pic of Raymond back in the day when he was strictly into 1/2A glow and none of that electric stuff. Notice the muscle developement from spending thousands of hours hand flipping those little engines, especially those little diesels.....
