Interesting stuff and very timely. I just bought a 3W 157 without thinking what the props were going to cost. I will have to consider building one of these.
By the way, The linear bearings and shafting are available over the internet at (ww.mcmastercarr.com ). They have sold to me on small quantities with no problem and ship promptly.
