Thanks. It is a OS 46LA. Do you think it will be ok.

Thanks
Looking good . Stick builts look so cool when they are in the bare bones/uncovered stage. Thanks for posting lots of pics.
The 46 LA will fly it but not with much gusto . And they run o.k. upright but the airbleed carb can be a nightmare when mounted on their side or inverted . { my 2 cents } Go with a good bearing engine .45 to 55 or a .70 4stroke would be hard to beat in .40 size bipe.

My first smith Miniplane had a OS 46 LA for power. It is a better choice for power on the Smith Miniplane than a 70 fourstroke. This is NOT an airplane you want to overpower. You'll be fighting ground looping with it as it is.

In today's bipe construction and design, a 70 fourstroke makes a lot of sence. I would put it on the FAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAARRRR end of the miniplane chioce, and only if you are proficient with very short coupled aircraft.

This airplane was designed for a 40 two stroke. This flew it just fine with no lack of power. I wouldn't hesitate using a 40 on the mini.

You'll be just fine.
