Hi rayb,
I originally flew mine with the SIG pushrods. The plane should have the outer pushrod casing still installed. The casing is normally glued into place during construction. If this is the case, you should not have to open up the fuse. The original pushrods are white plastic with metal rods threaded into the plastic. These change length with temperature. After a few seasons I got fed up with continually having to retrim every flight, so I replaced them with long 4-40 rods in the original outer casing. They work very well. They do add a bit of weight in the aft end but not much - just be aware of it. I had the CG at the forwardmost position anyway, so it made the plane a touch more responsive. I've attached some photos of my setup which will hopefully clarify things if needed.
Cheers!
