Default RE: Nosen P-51 (not). MY OWN GIANT PLAN BUILD

Dento if the strut cover or wheel cover door is flat you can cut it out of flat fiberglass sheet, if you are going to lay up fiberglass on the wing sheeting to get the curved shape I would use two layers of thick fiberglass cloth.
I am repairing one of my P-51 now, made a rough landing and took the gear out so.. A- I repaired the wood around the retract area and repainted... B- recut the panel that covers the gear mount screw area and primed gray out of 1/32" plywood... C- the strut covers are held on with aluminum straps and screws.

I am not going after flush scale covers but rather using strut covers on the surface with no wheel covers, my cover is cut from thin aluminum and curved to the wing airfoil, it all looks good on the ground or in the air and makes it practical and easy to repair, I do not have to tweek it if I make a rough landing or two.. As you can see the refference photo for my build has white wall tires as well. I would like to see your install pictures when you get to it, George
