as Bruce stated, the whale hole is not really needed, I fly mine with a P-120 for 7 1/2 minutes wide open most flights. no issues with temps or lack of airflow. the hatch in the short nose version was fairly straight forward to cut and fit screw plates for access into the nose. this is a fairly good idea as it is near impossible to get the batteries to sit with adequate padding around the gear/brakes servos.
