Default Disassembled cooling head and pipe, now loss of compression?

So I took out the engine of my Firstorm to repair the clutch, and while I was at it I took off the cooling head and the pipe for cleaning. I put it all back together, and now it won't start. There seems to be a loss of compression, almost like the glowplug is out or loose. When I pull on the pull starter with the car on the ground without holding it, the engine turns over instead of lifting up the car. I think the head could be on too tight, causing the sleeve to warp. Is this possible? What else should I check to try to fix this?
