You could take a slot machine and cut a thin slot and put in a thin piece of carbon fiber. Wrap some carbon cloth and use some poly. Cut it out and replace with a carbon fiber rod, cut it out, fill the slot with balsa, slot for steel wire joiner.

I just like the looks of a tri gear setup. It is about as much work to get the nose gear in as both main gear though.
