Yes, they are super user friendly and if this is his first fast airframe, the OS 35AX would be the better choice. Thou I cringe at the recommendation for break-in and props on most of the AX series engines. For instance a 12X6 prop(after break-in) is on the list for the 35AX's by OSl!!!!???? A bit big??? I run a 12X5 on a 55AX and it's perfect for that engine and 3D .
It' may be better to follow the lead that others have set here on RCU for engine info.

Note: If he pipes the 35, the user friendliness is diminished.
