Check the polarity of the plug from the ESC to the 3rd channel of the Rx to ensure it is correct. I had this same problem and found that mine was plugged in wrong. Nothing was damaged but it just did not work untill I turnned it around. Additionally if your frustration level has peeked and you have noone up there in Raliegh to help you and your willing to make a 2 hour drive south, I will be happy to help you in person.
