RE: Official F27 Stryker Part 8: Beginners to Custom Darkness
thetrums,
I assume/hope you meant to say that I always have “THE answer” as opposed to “An answer”….Big difference in meaning.

Looks like we may be designing around your ESC.
With ESC limit of 75A (can be pushed some more, no problem), your battery cell capacity (mAH) is on large side and will give you longer flight duration at some cost to weight….nothing bad….desired by some folks including me....battery will live longer and run cooler and have more cycles and also longer full throttle duration without battery overheating....sweet.
You have lots of motor options:
1) Get a motor to max that ESC in future on 6S and 75A…but now run it on 4S with a larger prop….similar to MEGA 16/25/3 will swing 7” prop on 4S…or Medusa 28-40-1700 V2.
2) Get a motor to max out on 5S 75A in future in Stryker (but run it on 4S now)….similar to MEGA 16/25/2.5 to be built in Jan-Feb, or equivalent NEU..also see #4 below.
3) Get a motor that can run 4S 75A now but 5S will make future prop too small for Stryker…16/25/2 or 16/25/2E (we can discuss which later)…or Medusa 28-40-2500 V2
4) Where is your 28-40-2200 V2 Medusa?
28-40-2200 is near perfect combo with your ESC and battery…and will allow you to also run it on 5S in Stryker (6S only in Funjet)….same as #2 option above…might swing 6.5” diameter prop on 4S.
FYI: Medusa is out of business, but NEU motors has taken over the repairs of Medusa motors. If yours is damaged it can be repaired.
Which way are you leaning now?
I hope you still have that Medusa (if my memory serves me right).
What was your setup? Include Wattmeter numbers too.
Back then I didn’t know one little detail about Medusa…so now we can just prop you up to bigger size prop for $3.
For #2 above in equivalent size of NEU 1112/1.5Y, consider MEGA 16/30/2 (can handle 100A if you ever want)
Mopar knows a lot, he can help you as well. He has tons of experience and data to back it up.
