Ok, then you do have an ignition problem. That's a shielded unit and is not designed around the use of a resistor plug since one is supposed to be inside the cap. Be thinking about replacing it.
TOM, go back and re-read your earlier posts on this thread. This is a un-shielded mag ignition .... not a shielded EI system. A resistor plug is a reasonable solution to the problem here if one was not being used from the start.
