Default RE: why a cub?

ORIGINAL: vertical grimmace

A Cub would certainly be good practice if you aspire to fly WW1 aircraft. I have never really been a fan myself and never owned one, but I have flown them. I am more sick of P-51 mustangs and P-47 Thunderbolts than I am Cubs honestly! With the Warbird craze now, these are very prevelant just because they are easy to fly mostly I believe.
I agree with your sentiments. The -51 is such a great airplane but it is so overdone I am building an IK3. I can't wait for flyers to ask me these two questions: is that an ARF and how does your P40 fly. You can bet your pants the Germans were glad they overran Yugoslavia when they did. If more of these (IK3) were available things might have gotten very embarrassing for the Bf109 drivers! One thing that is very curious is that the owners of these 'warbirds' know so little about them. I guess it has to do with 'curb appeal' but you'd think if someone went thru all the trouble to have a scale airplane it would be because they have some sort of connection to it in an historical sense. There are so many warbirds to build that have their place but are constantly neglected or, worse, snubbed.
