About the cowling. Some auto body paint supply stores scan colors for correct paint match and provide them in aerolsol cans.
You could call around, local, and see what you can come up with for this service?
Any auto body shop will paint clear over your new color for pennies. Have to get them when they are painting clear on a car.
I've done this before.
