I have a CG Chippy too and love it. I use a Magnum 91 RFS which is a bit more affordable than the OS.
I also mounted aileron servos in the wings instead of using the bellcranks. I put hardwood rails across the rib bay where the cranks would have been and just mounted the servos inverted (as opposed to sideways with a hatch).
Beefing up the LG isn't a bad idea but the only issue I've had in 2 years was due to me flaring too high.
