RE: Astro-Hog Build
As a point of clarification, the gear provided in the kit is designed for a trike landing gear arrangement. Should you decide to build the "Hog" as a taildragger, the landing gear called for in the plan is about 1" longer than the gear provided in the kit. Sig does have the longer gear available as an option for about $ 6.00 if memory serves. However, because the optional gear from Sig is 5/32" and I am using 3/16", it required me to bend my own gear from 3/16" music wire stock.
Of couse, you could use after market gear from Dubro (or others) as diginlivn (previous post) did with very positive results, but I opted for the traditional "in the wing" gear as called for in the plans.
I am planning a little more work on the "Hog" this week and will post my progress.
