Yes, the 40cc will be to much. The 26cc is just about perfect for scale flight and will do loops with out a problem. It won't climb out of sight but nice hammerheads can be done. Fly it scale and you will be fine as there are not enough control surface area to even attempt any 3D BS.
I have had a few rides in Wacos (UPF & S3HD) but not over the keys at sunset. That would be way cool.
