I just installed Flaps on my T-28 Trojan by Parkzone. I recently bought a DX6i and am programming the flaps. They work fine (up and down) but the DX6i settings under the flaps menu show two positions: NORM and LAND. Currently, NORM is flaps up and LAND is flaps down. Well, I was wondering that if NORM is supposed to be flaps up, then why is there and ELEV compensation value? It seems like it was meant for a takeoff position but the flap switch has only 2 positions..
Here's my plan. Please let me know if there's a better solution.
My setup is a servo for each flaps Y connected into the AUX port on an AR6000. I go into the MIX menu and program a GEAR to FLAPS mix to extend the flaps when the GEAR switch is put to the extend position. I'll set the flap extension value to 50%. This will be the takeoff position. Then I also have to set up another mix GEAR to ELEV also activated by the GEAR switch to give a bit of nose down ELEV at this position to compensate for the FLAP extension.
Now under the FLAPS menu NORM is stil 0 FLAPS and 0 ELEV . Under the LAND, I set whatever FLAP value will give me full down flaps. It will be something less than 100% since the GEAR to FLAPS mix will have already extended the FLAPS to 50%. I also will put in an additional ELEV compensation her for the additional FLAP extension in the LAND mode.
So now (I'll test it today), for takeoff I just put the GEAR switch down for a flaps takeoff position. For flight I put the GEAR switch up. For landing, I put the GEAR switch down and the FLAP switch down.
It sure would be easier to just have a 3 position flap switch (ie DX&
