wow that beatyourtruck link looks similar to mine. Hate to tell that guy though he did a MT1 (okok at the point he stripped it the only difference is a slipper and body mount posts)
main differences I went the cheapest possible route and even though its a brushed convo I can easily make it brushless (about 3 mins seeing I now own a BL esc and motor). Think I spent a total of $50-60, including a new $30 body for the truck. All I bought was a elec stampede chasis(battery holder) for $10 shipped, cheap L-bracket airplane motor mount $7, and a novak mod-1 pinion $10. The stampede chassis as a battery box does 2 roles at once, it provides a cheap battery box with easy access, and it also acts as a chassis brace that stops the majority of the chassis flex.
It is a little differently laid out now though I bought some delrin rods and finished off the rear to my original plan (still gotta take a pic of it).
Actually once I destroy my Brama 10b with the 8.5t brushless setup, the things chassis is failing due to it being made so cheap(and not from the brushless motor its cracking without it being used yet), I'm guessing the brama will fail after its 1st real run. I was planning on putting it in my MT1 convo.
I was also playing with an idea about shoving an e-savages tranny in it and running it with dual titan 12v 550s but after doing the math I decided it was not cost effective and gave it up seeing I couldn't find a 2nd hand tranny. To assemble a tranny and get the ESC and motors would cost around $160 which would be the price of a very nice BL system
And yes I think the HPI bullet brushless edition looks pretty nice, unlike the recycled lightning 10 nitro one which looks cramped, and hard to work on with limited options.
Looking at that blue groove convo kit. I only got one question where in the world do you shove the battery? I only ask cause the pic of it installed shows their plate with most electronics on the side with the radio is default but shows the motor and ESC on the side where everyone shoves the battery on homebrewed convos so theres no room left for a battery pack that I can see(judging from the 3 low res pics).
