The name KAMOV is connected to one of the leading manufacturers of helicopters, built their first autogyro in 1929 with NS Skrzhinskij, including the one that came into armed combat.


When the Germans invaded his country in 1941, the prototype of his autogyro K.7, two-seater, used mainly at night, made observation flights and even dropping leaflets near Smolensk. With the war their study group was disbanded in 1943 and only returned to active since 1947, when it flew its first model K.8, 27 HP, ultralight coaxial rotor, or two rotors on one another running in the opposite direction from each other, a hallmark of future projects of Kamov and his successors until the present day.


The odd thing is that in 1944, it does fly Ka.8 model, which was the first to use the concept of the coaxial scheme, which will be maintained after the war. The particularity of this model was to be single-seater, powered by a 27hp engine on a motorcycle, which was increased to 45hp by using alcohol as fuel and their propellers were made of wood.
