Default RE: WACO YMF

Andy,

1. Correct - The AMA has the 1990 plans with the templates. The early plans have some extra details (front cockpit cover, full size fuselage sheeting layouts, door shape) on the third sheet. The 1990 plans have relocated the tail wheel forward to the scale location and some very minor changes. Otherwise the plans are pretty much identical, just layed out a little different.

2. The manuals can be used with any of the PICA plans or kits, the construction is basically the same. Just note that the sizes listed are for the 1/5th kit and need to be adjusted for the 1/6th kit. The long manual is a more detailed step by step instruction than the short manual (which I believe was taken from the original Dave Platt instructions. The D. Platt kit was the original and predates the Pica). The revised short manual has the changes suggested by the Brotherhood in bold. As noted on the cover page of the revised short manual, they do not apply to the COX/Pica ARF.

3. The templates are the same. The templates were given to the AMA because many of us could not get them to print out correctly from either the JPG or DXF files on HoM. If they print out correctly for you, great; just check the heights and widths against the plans to be sure.

4. The early plans also have templates for enclosing the rear cockpit. To the best of my knowledge, they were not used on the YMF in that form (some YMFs did have an enclosed cockpit). They or similar templates were used on the YPF, ZPF and some others. The *PF fuselage is different from the YMF fuselage.
