Made my charging mod tonight. I used Striker's idea with a twist. I made a "Y" harness with plug in connectors, one end plugs into the battery, one to the battery port on the radio and the other attaches to the original charge port. I did the unthinkable and opened the case! It was very easy to do, I used the rotary tool to put a small hole inside the battery compartment, then un-soldered the wires from the circuit board that the charge wires go to. Then run the wires through the hole and attach to a "y" harness and install the battery. Of course I had to chop up my wall wart to use for the Super Smart charger. The end result is easily returned to factory and I can use the original charging port on the radio.
