Tam Long tiger I e
Well i've started the conversion of my HL Tiger to a complete Tamiya electronics package including the TBU. Everything in it will be Tamiya parts except the traverse mechanism. It is a Asitam hull with An RCCommand custom turret witch already had the Tamiya KT recoild motor system, but it had the new HL elevation unit. i replaced this with tha Tam Tiger elevation unit utilizing the elevation arm from the HL unit. I am also installing tha actuall Tamiya Tiger speaker box. this is taking some modification because the HL traverse mechanism interfears with the Elev. motor. I will get some pics up sone be fore i get to far into the build, but sofar everything is working out fine. I may even be able to keep the Asiatam upperhull locking mechanism. I have RCCommand 3:1 Steel gear boxes in it and i'm adding Speed 400 motors with 12 tooth pinion gear so it should get back some of the speed to get closer to scale. the RCC gearboxes although add tons of torque are a little slow with white cap motors. I already have the Turret completed with the IR emmitter and recoil unit and Tamy elevation unit with the Tam High intensity flash. I also jave tha Tam hull machine gun led to -plug into the DMD unit. I will be using my new Futaba skysport 2.4 gHz radio that comes wiith a 4 channel spread spectrum reciever. i am also going to be using 2 matched 5000 mAh batteries, one for each control module. That should make for very long battles. All the Electronics where purchased from Jason's on ebay. All the other components came from Karren from the AAF, I love you darlin, thanks so much for the help and awesome service. The new radio only takes 4 AA batteries so no fancy packs, I'll be using Tenergy rechargeable niM h AA cells for the radio. So that will be 10,000 mAh of battery power in this tank. All i'm waiting for are the pinion gears from Hobby lobby where i got the Speed 400's from. the shaft sizes are the same as the HL motors so i could have used the ten tooth pinions from them but i want it to be as quick as it can be but still with scale speed. Made alot of progress yesturday but want to back teck to get the pics docummented. This thing is going to be a beast . Cant wait to get it done as I will be bringing it to Danville this spring along with my Tamy Panther G and my fully RC and Tamiya compatable Denix 88 mm anti tank gun. It has a TBU compatable system on it from Nick. He also make some IR targets powered by 9 volt batteries. I have a sound card for one that works with an onboard relay to trigger the sound card.
Just have to get some good quality sound byteas to put on the card. i also want to hook up a loop of back groung battle sounds that continuosly replay.
