Default RE: lrp .30

the LRP 30 makes lots of torque, but seems to fall very flat in the top end, the torque curve drops off very fast which is why I don't think it will make big HP numbers..I am sure the torque numbers will be very high and be very early in the powerband.......But a motor needs to be able to carry its torque into the higher RPM's to make big HP numbers..... I know I am a Picco fanboy, and I will admit that...however I am lying or stretching the truth one bit when I say a Picco 28 is a much stronger performing engine the the LRP... Yes the LRP may be very close in peak output numbers as the Picco 28, but it doesn't carry its power across the entire RPM range nearly as well as the Picco does....Both engines have about the same bottom end, very similar midrange, but in the top end the Picco walks all over the LRP...The LRP seems to fall flat very early in the RPM range, yes it makes good peak power, but its powerband is very very focused in the lower RPM range...The Picco 28 is nowhere near a high RPM onroad engine, but for a 28 it is no slouch when it comes to RPM, making and educated guess I would say the Picco 28 has about 7000 more usable RPM then the LRP 30 before its torque curve goes flat....Running both engines back to back you can hear a huge difference in the pitch of the exhaust note, and driving the two the LRP is definitely lacking..... Interestingly tho we all prefer the LRP for doing wheeelies, the LRP's power delivery and torque are perfect for doing awesome wheelies....the Picco tends to hit harder and instead of wheelying the Picco usually just blows the tires off.......... I will have dyno information on the LRP 30 pretty soon, I have a dyno being built right now and should be operational in about 1-2 weeks...

Also I don't like the tuning of my pullstart LRP 30, with how I run the engine I overheat the carb and it causes the fuel to boil which alters the tune, I am going to install a Novarossi insulated carb and I am sure all the tuning issues will vanish.... The pullstart versions carb is not insulated and if you push the engine hard the carb will overheat, which is why all race engines run insulated carbs..... When the carb overheats you are forced to falsely richen the low speed to keep the engine from high idling, which in turn causes the engine to eat up fuel..... Then after a short period of idling the carb will cool back down and your tune will start to want to go rich on you....A insulated carb will solve all these issues
