Welcome back DUDE! I loved the video of the Besler steam engine plane. I was amazed at the end when he reversed the engine and taxied the plane backwards.
Concerning your problem with the motor shaft being to short. You may be able to find a replacement shaft for the E-flite motor, with same diameter, just longer.
Here's an example, it doesn't have to be an E-flite shaft.

Or you could have one made from drill bit stock.
