Default RE: Gear box help

ORIGINAL: Alex4182

I want to slow my Mato sherman down like YHR did but I am having a heck of a time finding some HL 3:1 gear boxes. Does any one have some extra ones laying around or can someone point me in the right direction to buy some. Thanks for the help.</p>
Hi Alex,
One of the oldest and most simple tricks is to change to a smaller pinion (one with fewer teeth on the gear). This will increase low end torque, improve hill climbing and improve drivabllity since the tank will be less twitchy. They are only a few dollars and should be available and any decent RC shop. They may even help you out with installation. You might have to elongate the motor holes in the gear box with a file but is is simple. Just make sure you clean the greaboxes when done. This fix should only cost $10 to $25. If you want to take it to the next level you can also buy "gear reductions" for the gearbox. The pinion swap is the cheapest though.
