I believe that "one maneuver per pass" style of pattern flying certainly fits within the definition of "classic pattern" in it's broader sense. I encourage you to expand your horizons and embrace the broader possibilities for classic pattern. Greater opportunities for participation means strength in numbers, my friend.

This is what I'm trying to get at. Can the rules be written such that all of the "classic" designs work well, while at the same time encouraging innovation of new designs so as to continually attract new blood to the sport?
