Default RE: SkyMaster shiping delay

ORIGINAL: Ali

As a skymaster dealer I have to sympathize with you guys. Unfortunately this long delivery delay is something that is becoming more and more apparent the busier the factory gets. I am now quoting my customers a 12 week delay on any kits ordered. Even then there are cases where even this delivery delay is exceeded. I have been told that the delay is due to A) Popularity and b) The fact that nearly all the kits are hand painted on the outside ( Not in the mould ) This process is quite time consuming as allot of work goes into getting rid of seams and defects from the mould, then the paint is applied and nearly all the schemes lots of detail and markings is also applied. This part of the production process is the most time consuming and also the most skilled. The number of workers trained to do this is much lower than lets say lay up or construction. The upside is that you as a customer can order custom schemes and when you get the finished article it is ( In my opinion ) The best of the artf manufacturers out there. ( Thats just my opinion, before anyone trys to change this thread into a who is best war )
I know this doesn't make it any better for you guys who have had to or are still waiting for their jet. I hope Anton reads this and trys to alter things within the company to lessen the delay. I will speak with him again about the issue next time we are talking. As I too have customers who are getting edgy about some seriously long delays.
Regards Al
For me the problem isn't the delay, its the way they kinda misleads you in to believing that the model is almost ready to ship, and have you order it-when in fact he model isn't ready for 2-3 months!

Al, i agree on you, but some of the things you are mentioning, are things that they should take in to consideration when they calculate a delivery time. And Skymaster should know by now that painting custom schemes takes time!

SKYMASTER: its okay to use some time building and painting just give us the facts when it comes to delivery time when we order, we are all like children after we have ordered something, but it really helps mentally to have a date that you can trust, that being 1 month or 3, no problem!

Im trying to be constructive in my criticism..
