Default Schumo vs. Daryl's idler system for King Tiger

So I am starting to compile a list of upgrade parts for my KT static model Porsche conversion and I know one or two people on the forums have experience with both the Schumo and Daryl's idler systems in the KT. Which one is preferred for ease of installation, durability, and when running metal tracks? Most likely I will be starting out with the plastic tracks but I would like an idler system that can withstand the abuse of metal tracks in the not too distant future. For reference this tank will be used for moderate backyard/park running and I am very careful with my vehicles. A second somewhat related question is if I should just skip the stock Tamiya or any other types of gearboxes and start out with the HD gearboxes from ETO if I know I'm going to be running metal tracks. The HD gearboxes seem like overkill for a backyard basher but I don't want to replace gearboxes frequently because of the metal tracks.

I realize a lot of people recommend buying a HL tank or a Tamiya FO KT kit and scavenging some parts, but my goal is to build this thing in stages to make it a close to rock-solid runner and I don't want to buy other tanks to cannabalize parts if I'm just going to be replacing most of the parts anyways.
