Default RE: Sig Hog Bipe engine

My hog is a real beast at 9lbs 12oz. I've got a Saito 100 installed and it will hover (quite well actually!) and can pull the plane vertical FOREVER! the plane balanced perfectly with the battery in the compartment just under the fuel tank.

I simply dont believe a saito 100 with hover a 9-3/4 pound plane, much less pull out like you say.[&o]
*JCB*, you HAVE to be running high nitro to get that from a Saito 100. I'm running a pumped Saito 100 and a 15-6 in my 7.4 lbs GP Extra 300. My rpm is 10,000. I run 30% heli fuel and I have spent a lot of time tuning the engine and the pump to operate together with the most power. I can hover at 3/4 throttle and the pull out is ok but not blast out.

LargeScale88, don't waste your time on a Saito 100 for a 9 lbs plane unless you intend to run high nitro. If you are going to fly circuits or mild sport it will probably pull it but in time you will be let down. If there is no shortage of cash go with a Saito 125, the extra weight is minimal and you will still be able to balance, in fact if you have glassed that fuselage then you will have definitely added weight and it will work out. If you want to save a buck use an os 120ax. I'm running a 120ax with a MA 16-8 on 15% nitro in my Golberg Ultimate and the power is fantastic! She weights 9.5lbs and is a ballistic missile, crazy vertical. On my 5th tank of gas I was able to do a 10 foot roll out and go straight up like a rocket. Awesome power at a little more than half the cost of a Saito... and I don't need high nitro to get awesome power!
