No such thing as matching the voltage. Tune for maximum field response, in other words trial & error to maximize it. However most of these cheap toys break down with more serious trouble than just out of tune. If you like it so much, you might like to find a 3 channel toy & exchange the RC system. The cheap Walmart Ohio class sub may be a good candidate except its range is rather inferior. Good luck again .
