I joined the AMA half-way through 2009. It did kinda suck to have to pay for a full year's membership (even though it was worth every penny to be able to fly at my local club). IMHO the least they could do is send you ALL of that years magazines! However, I gladly renewed my membership and it's no longer an issue.
