Default RE: FS One by Hangar 9

Hi All,
I didn't intend to make life so difficult:

Here's the text from those two posts that were referred to via link; these posts speak about wind conditions and further customization of FSOne,
Scott

I noticed only fairly recently that their are hidden additional wind conditions in fsone Don't know if they are experimental or what, but anyway... Here's how you can activate them...

Open this file: C:\Program Files\FS One\Wind\Lists.cfg

Add the lines below to the END of the file:

Name217 = Interesting
Name218 = Oscillating
Name219 = TimeVarying

** Make sure to add a blank line after the last item

Change the direction and wind speed using the keyboard shortcuts (Home and End for speed and '-' and '=' on the qwerty side for direction). Activate the wind compass with 'W' to see what changes you are making.

I've been using the "TimeVarying" one a lot for the random swirly gustiness.

There is also another called "UpDraft" which I haven't activated and tried yet.

I noticed these hidden conditions after I saw a post by MSelig about a "boundry layer with turbulence" wind condition that he put up on his file server. That server is no longer functioning but I have that wind file as well (IMO it's a really good wind scenario as well... I've used this a lot too). I suppose I should let Selig attach that file here himself. It's called Q1054-TurbBL-Wind.zip

If you have that file, you would add it like so... "Name" numbers must be in sequence and always add the blank line at the end of the file:

Name220 = turbulentwind-10mph-000deg-GroundBL1
second post:

Q1054
Wow! Looks like we forgot to remove those 'works in progress' wind files! Who knows what other files were left in the attic ...

The Q1054 TurbBL wind file mentioned above is here:

http://www.inertiasoft.com/fsonefaq/...urbBL-Wind.zip

This wind setup includes a 10-mph wind component + turbulence + ground boundary layer. It has "all" the elements that are encountered in a real wind scenario (especially landing). Use the 'w' key to see the wind speed and direction.

We did not include turbulence with a ground boundary layer along with the original FS One HH install. Running an atmospheric boundary layer together with turbulence requires ~twice the computation on the wind side of things. It will not be so great on slow computers, but who still has slow computers these days?!

If you try it out, you'll notice that as you get closer to the ground, the wind speed will decrease and in a crosswind landing this will require less correction. The turbulence adds in the random element.

- ooo -

To install, unzip the file, look at the readme file, and move the contents to your FS One HH "Wind" folder. Then edit the wind list here:

C\:Program Files\FS One\Wind\Lists.cfg

and add this line to the list and end the file with a blank line, e.g.:

Name217 = turbulentwind-10mph-000deg-GroundBL1....or whatever number increments the last, e.g. Name220 if following the prior post.
