Thunder Tiger .25 pro
Greg, The OS FP or LA carb worked and the engine runs great, The carb fit right in the hole of the POS that came with the engine. The engine was a bit tight at first but with seven flights on it it is starting to run very nicely.
We ran our first beginner combat on 27Jul03 (the first on got rained/washed out) we had five (new combatants) all flying LA .25's in spads, and Bill Tozer and myself running Preditors mine with the engine discused above and Bills with an engine that was made up from two engines (one with a cracked case and the other with a shattered con rod). Trying to avoid collitions we used 20ft string and 50ft streamers and they all got taken off in the second round. First round we put just the new guys up against each other and plan problems soon had it dow to just two. Our Preditors were slow compared to the Spads, Mine with the hotter (illegal engine) was as fast as the spads. Our rules are simple LA or FP .25 is the larges engine alowed, anything smaller is allowed. Rule number two everyone fly's legal or not and if they do to well with a illegal engine at the end when they start braging we call them a cheeter, and they could not repeat it with a leagal engine (you know the usual banter). Everyone had a good time, we had one mid air and one loss of control but damage was less than $20.00 worth.
We plan to hold one more prior to our RCCA combat meets on 13 & 27 sept and hopefully some of these guys will give that a try.
