Okay, this is how I decided to make these scoops. I am using a 1" dia. wood bead. I flattened one side and hollowed it out using various Dremel bits. I drilled a hole in the side using a Fostner bit and glued a dowel into it. I slipped a aluminum tube over the dowel which is the proper size and just meets the aluminum panel. The dowel goes through a hole in the panel and is glued to a piece of sheet balsa which is glued to the inside of the aluminum panel. I'll use some JB Weld to fill between the aluminum tube and the wood bead to make it look like one piece. It will be painted a bronze or copper color.
