Default RE: Apathy for .25's?

Why not get the 30ss? Same case, same weight, more power. Someone posted figures on the tach forum showing the 30ss not too far behind the OS 25FX.

Not sure about the Fox 25BB beating out the OS 25FX...that would be very impressive. I agree that it would be good to have some figures.

There are considerable weight differences among these engines. I think the Fox is lighter than the OS, but it is very noisy on the stock muffler. My Enya 30ss is very light...barely 9 oz w/muffler, and very noisy. Seems the newer Enyas have bigger mufflers, so weight goes up but noise probably gets more acceptable. But a Macs one-piece muffler is best of both worlds on this engine...as light as the old small muffler, but less noise, and by my tach I think it gains a couple hundred rpm (but measured two different days, so not sure).

The 25FX is awfully close to a Webra .32 in weight (almost 11 oz); that, plus the rear needle mount that sometimes breaks, is why I haven't taken much interest in it. The GMS is over 12 oz (get the 32 instead); red case Irvine 25 is over 13 oz, and the new OS AX is as bad or worse. I have no use at all for a 12-14 oz 25. I do have a couple of Irvine 39s...same weight as the 25, much more power on larger props.

My MVVS .26 is about 10 oz. with stock muffler, like the Fox. I may have to look into the mini-pipe and after-muffler that Dar referenced.
