RE: Top Flite Taurus Build
Dave Harmon,
I have to say the period correct engine for the Taurus was the Veco .45 R/C, unless I am grossly mistaken. Oriiginally, I thought it would have been the K&B .45 R/C but I believe that was rare. After reading the Model Airplane News 1/63 issue the designer Ed Kazimirski mentioned the Veco .45 with a special venturi insert restrictor to improve fuel draw. I would suspect a .61 on the Taurus would make it a rocket. I have almost completed my Taurus from plans and plan on using an OS .50SX for power. Although I do have a Veco .45 R/C I had originally planned to use, however the technology is old, the throttle arm is on the opposite side, and of course the exhaust baffle makes it interesting to muffle. So the OS .50 will make life easier and probably supply more than enough power.
