RE: Classic Pattern Event in Chicago...2010?
Chicago Classic Pattern Championships, May 29, 2010!!!
Update- I continue to receive e-mails and calls from pilots all over the country who will be attending the May 29th event.
Toledo 2010- Dave Guerin and I attended the Toledo Expo over the weekend to catch up with pals, work on the 2011 F3A world championships which will be held in Muncie the last couple weeks of July 2011 and talk about the Chicago Classic Pattern Championships. We are amazed at how many people are talking about classic pattern and pleased that many pilots with an open calendar from California, Oklahoma, Alabama, Virginia, West Virginia, Wisconsin, Indiana, North Carolina...
Scoring- I am pleased to share that Chicagoland Scoring Legend Larry Larsen has volunteered to handle the scoring for the event. He is preparing the same system used at our AMA/FAI pattern events to handle the (2) SPA and (2) BPA classes including k-factors, normalizing the scores for each round and a custom (1) page score sheet for judging. Larry is the best!
Photo from Toledo- The very fuzzy photo (BlackBerry camera) below is from Toledo with (L-R) Mark Radcliff, Dave Guerin, Bill Cunningham, Steve Helms, Chris Lakin and Mike Harrison...a motley crew indeed!
Gernot Bruckman, Rusty and Rusty's new Yak!!! I was a judge for the ETOC again this year which is an incredibly challenging and exciting experience. I got to know Gernot at the 2007 ETOC and purchased his "Spark" and this year he let me buy his winning Yak. The Yak weighs 132 grams without the 250 mah 2C lipo and features fishing cable elevator/rudder pull-pull and (2) aileron servos. The Graupner servos are fed directly off of the 7.4 volt lipo...very speedy servos. The wing has an airfoil and is the inspiration for a Dalotel with retracts from Doxilla's plans for the Dalotel 30 size. Rusty's elf "Master Foamy" is creating a foam fuselage and wing for the project.
