Extreme 330 Owners Poll

I think CA hinges are fine for this size plane... AND the U-Can-Do-3D...
Usually the problem lies in the hinge slots... if they are very loosewhen the hinge is slid in... then it akes a good bit of CA to get them to hold... the joint is brittle CA...
CA's greatest strength is when the two surfaces meet tightly... it soaks in BOTH surfaces and bond them together.
Is' weakest is when there is no surface to surface touching and it must "bridge" the gap... (therefore I'm not much for the "gap filling" attribute). I like medium and thick for when I need longer to work with a piece, but try to never rely on it to "fill the gaps" and be strong... It is VERY brittle... It can also buildup on the hinge itself because there is nothing wicking it up... then the HINGE becomes brittle and can crack & tear without warning.
On loose slots, I've had good success with "pinching" the two sides of the piece together THEN applying CA...
SO.. .with that said... the slots in my Extreme were nice and tight... 4 drops per side soaked in well and adhered strong. It doesn't hurt to check them periodically... I've caught a couple broken hinges in the past and simply replaced them.
