Well it all depends on which stick you want to drive and steer with. You could set it up in 2 modes. 1 I think puts the drive functions on the right stick, mode 2 reverses this on the left. The receiver needs no out side power source as it is supplied to the servos/ motors from the Multi function unit. So how you use the channels is up to you.
