props need to be balanced,as if they are not,it causes undo stress on the transom and running gear.think of a wheel on your car not balanced,reaches a certain speed and vibrates like hell.props do the same thing,even in the water.as for sharpening the blades,just cuts through the water easier resulting in more speed.
