Thanks for the encouragement. I will do what I can to make the contest. I agree that there is much to be learned just from being there. When ever I see a contest report, the first thing I do is take a look at the photos to get a sense of what people are flying. Based on what I have read, the events also seem to be a lot of fun. In my club, we have a couple of ex-pattern fliers and one of them has agreed to start coaching me which would be of great help. Right now, I practice mostly on my own without a caller. We also have a couple of IMAC pilots, one of which has helped me a few time by pointing out what I was doing wrong. Learning so far has been both fun and frustrating. I guess that is to be expected. I will probably fly the Extra since it is bigger plane than the Groovy and thus easier to see at a distance. Now, I just need to get some practice in.
