Kato continued to develop the design with a second variant that had the wing sweep reduced, larger wing area, thicker airfoil and shorter nose moment. The thick airfoil did not work well because it slowed the speed of the aircraft too much so a new wing was designed with a thinner airfoil. The new wing also reduced the overall aircraft weight.
