Wrong Part in Great Planes Piper Cub Kit
I think Great Planes may have made an error when they packed this kit. The two TE pieces in this kit do not match the TE in the plans and i cannot complete the step or move any further without cutting the TE's. Before i do that i wanted to post here and make sure that i am doing the right thing...
Build the Wing
Step 7
Well i've run into a problem and it's late and way past bedtime...
I think the tapered trailing edges that came with the kit are incorrectly sized. When i line up the 1 and 2 rib slots in the TE with the 1 and 2 ribs on the plan, the TE sticks out WAY past the inboard edge of the 4 rib. See Pictures... I guess i have a few choices. Cut it off at the location that will yield the proper length TE, or maybe call GP and have them send me a new set of TE. While i'm sure they would send new ones, i don't want to wait for the TE to arrive. Anyone else run into this issue? Any suggestions on what to do? The obvious answer is to just cut the TE to the proper length, being sure that all the notches line up properly. But it's been a while since i built a plane and before i cut something that's hard to replace, i want to be VERY CERTAIN, that it's the right thing to do.
the TE is too LONG, on the OUTBOARD end. I have to fit the 1/8" slots behind the 1 and 2 ribs so that all the other slots line up with the 3ribs. When i do that all teh extra length is to the outboard side of the #4 rib. Ihave to cut the TE to be able to glue anything in place at all. It's either that or cut the end of the 4 rib off and glue it to the front of the TE. Both TE's are too long, so i'm not sure where to go at this point...Thanks for your help!
