i have an idea but it may sound a bit iffy
what if we cut out most of the old fire wall but left a lip of it going around the nacel then followed that ouline back an inch or so with plywood then then twhen the prefured distance is attained use a i final peice of plywood to close off the hole then use some resin and glass cloth thostrengnthen it up.
