RE: Classic Pattern Event in Chicago...2010?
So,
Thanks for asking.
It went OK. I never did tape up the hingelines so it was a little erratic. The time helped me, but I still sucketh mightily on the sticks. Flew 5 flights.
The engine is coming in well but the 12x6 was sure making it a lot faster than I need. I can fly it at about 1/2 throttle on the tx. Any more and it gets ahead of me.
I banged it up stalling it on the last landing in the weird rotors off of the trees and gazebo at Buder Park and took it to the pad for repair. Fixed her up by 11:30pm.
I flew it at 7:30 this morning with a 12x5 and it was a little slower and a few trim items seemed to help. Still at half throttle though.
Found I had hit every corner from nose, wingtips and rudder bottom and loosened the stab so I've got to reglue it. Glad I didn't loose it.
I've got a 12x4 and a 12.25x 3.75 to try yet. I figure the more power I can run with lower pitch then it'll be more effective at climbing well over the top and give a little braking downhill. Something to try anyway. I might have ground clearance for a 13 incher.
Jason, didn't you have a 55 in some sort of Kaos recently? What prop did you use?
So Wednesday I'll tape up the hingelines and fix the tail, and go out and try, try again. I have Thursday too.
How does one hammerhead a Kaos? I can get it to go left with right rudder! Help!
